A lighter Black Friday: Local small business owners offer more relaxed option to holiday shopping

Anna Neuenfeldt's concern on Thanksgiving Day won't be rushing to her store so throngs of customers can come in to score big deals to kick off the holiday shopping season.

The owner of Beyond Ordinary, a gift boutique offering merchandise including home decor and jewelry, Neuenfeldt said her energies will instead be focused on making Thanksgiving dinner for her family. She began hosting the meal about nine years ago, and expects more than 20 family members to attend. Neuenfeldt said her store, located at 3044 Village Park Drive in Plover, will be closed for Thanksgiving.
