High winds in Manitowoc cause truck rollover, power outages

The same storm system that wreaked havoc in neighboring states brought high winds and heavy rainfalls to the Manitowoc area over the weekend and into Monday.

A strong gust of wind caused a semitruck carrying corn byproducts to roll over and land in a ditch in rural Manitowoc County on Monday, said Deputy Inspector Todd Hermann of the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred at about noon as the truck was turning north onto Marken Road from U.S. 151 in the town of Liberty, southwest of Valders, he said. ...
