City Council approves 2014 budget

Plan includes substantial pay raises for several city employees

The Stevens Point City Council unanimously voted to adopt the 2014 city budget, which includes implementing a new pay plan for city employees, at Monday's meeting. The budget will go into effect Jan. 1, 2014.

The new pay plan gives several city employees substantial pay raises totaling nearly $115,000, all of which is paid for in the city budget using some of the $156,000 in contingency money.

Some of the salary increases include $18,148 for Public Works Director Scott Schatschneider to bring his salary to $85,592; an increase of $8,107 for Director of Utilities and Transit Joel Lemke to ...
