Winnebago Literary Council receives grant for healthy eating initiative

The Cousins Subs Make it Better Foundation has awarded a grant to the Winnebago County Literacy Council to sponsor its "Healthy Eating in the Classroom" nutrition program. The program serves more than 100 refugees who are learning to acclimate to the community.

The WCLC teaches English to both adults and children from foreign countries such as Jordan, Somalia, Pakistan, China, Russia and Iraq. Participants in the program do not know the language or culture and are motivated by a desire to read, speak, and perform everyday skills with confidence so they can thrive in our community.
