Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will miss his third consecutive game this Sunday against Minnesota after sitting out of Friday’s final practice.

Rodgers kept the remote possibility of him playing open earlier this week when he said he’d need to practice two days before a game in order to be deemed ready to return from the broken collarbone he suffered earlier this month.

Unable to practice on Friday, it’s likely the 29-year-old Rodgers will be ruled out for Sunday’s game with Scott Tolzien making his second career start.

Cornerback Micah Hyde (groin) also didn’t return to practice despite being adamant he would be back on the field during locker room availability on Thursday. The absence of Hyde, Sam Shields (hamstring), Casey Hayward (hamstring) and James Nixon (knee) leaves the Packers with only three healthy cornerbacks in Tramon Williams, Davon House and Jarrett Bush.

Right tackle Don Barclay (knee), outside linebacker Nick Perry (foot/ankle) and defensive lineman Johnny Jolly (groin) also sat out of practice on Friday. Defensive lineman Ryan Pickett (knee) and outside linebacker Mike Neal (abdomen) continued to practice during the portion of practice available to the media.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy is scheduled to speak to the media at approximately 12:30 p.m.
