City Notes: Appleton to consider support of transit authority legislation

Appleton's Common Council will consider following Outagamie County's lead and support a proposed state law regarding a regional transit authority.

A bill to allow local municipalities to tax residents to pay for public transportation such as Valley Transit's buses has again stalled in Madison and has not had a hearing before the Senate Transportation Committee.

The Outagamie County board recently passed a resolution backing the bill, and Appleton aldermen Jeff Jirschele and Kyle Lobner want the city's council to follow suit. ...
