New Leaf co-op solidifies plans for opening in a year

New Leaf Market expects by Thanksgiving to have $500,000 of the $6 million needed to open a co-op grocery store in late 2014 or early 2015.

The New Leaf project began organizing in 2010. It announced in August it had a purchase option to buy what is now the Greyhound bus station at 800 Cedar St. It also will acquire adjacent lots to build its store.

President Lynn Walter said they looked for an existing building to renovate, but none suited their needs. ...
