Besides the return of Aaron Rodgers to the practice field, there was more good news on the injury front for the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday morning.

Three players who missed the Minnesota Vikings game on Sunday practiced Tuesday: cornerback Sam Shields, tackle Don Barclay and defensive lineman Johnny Jolly.

Their ability to practice means there's a good chance they will play against the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

Barclay is coming off a knee injury and missed the last two games. Shields also has missed two games with a hamstring injury. Jolly missed Sunday's game with a groin injury.

It would be a big boost if all three can play. Shields is needed to help cover Lions receiver Calvin Johnson. Jolly is needed to shore up a leaky run defense. Barclay could steady the offensive line if he can step in at right tackle.

Their return couldn't have come at a better time as the Packers prepare for a crucial NFC North game against the Lions, who lead the Packers by a half-game in the standings.

The Packers didn't practice in full pads on Tuesday and were inside the Don Hutson Center. Players who didn't practice included running back Johnathan Franklin, linebackers Clay Matthews, Mike Neal Nick Perry and Jamari Lattimore, and defensive linemen Datone Jones and C.J. Wilson.
