Town Board passes 2014 budget

The 2014 budget for the town of Brussels spells out $357,814 in spending with nearly half - $160,000 - allocated to road maintenance.

The Town Board adopted the budget the night before Thanksgiving. One town resident was present.

On the revenue side, the tax levy to support next year's expenditures was set at $160,183, the largest source of income. The levy includes the $34,660 property tax amount the town collects on behalf of the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department. ...
