Shopko to collect, match toy donations Saturday

Local retailer Shopko will hold a matching toy-drive challenge Saturday, Dec. 7, at its area stores.

Donations of new toys between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will be matched by Shopko and donated to Toys for Tots to be distributed to children in need in time for Christmas.

The donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations: Shopko De Pere, 230 N. Wisconsin St.; Shopko Ashwaubenon, 301 Bay Park Square; Shopko West Green Bay, 216 W. Military Ave.; Shopko East Green Bay, 2430 E. Mason St.; and Shopko Suamico, 2320 Lineville Road.

Foth opens new headquarters

Gov. Scott Walker attended a ribbon-cutting event Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, for the opening of the new corporate headquarters in De Pere for Green Bay-based Foth.

The engineering company has been headquartered in the Green Bay area for 75 years.

The new $21 million, 100,000-square-foot facility is located on Innovation Court off Southbridge Road just east of U.S. 41 on De Pere's southwest side. Construction for the two-story building started in September 2012.

About half of Foth's 600 employees will work out of the new office.

"Today is a proud day for The Foth Companies and our employees, simultaneously celebrating the opening of this wonderful new headquarters as well as our 75 year anniversary of delivering personalized, client-centered service," Randy Homel, Foth's president and CEO, said in a news release. "We look forward to continuing to deliver high value to our client partners for another 75 years."

Filing process starts for spring elections

Candidates interested in running for office in their municipalities next year can circulate nomination papers through Tuesday, Jan. 7.

The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 7 for the spring elections. If necessary, the spring primary election will be Tuesday, Feb. 18. The spring general election will be Tuesday, April 1.

Those interested in running for office should contact their city, village or town clerk.
