Dietrich-Smith active against Falcons

Dec. 8, 2013

Starting Green Bay Packers center Evan Dietrich-Smith was healthy enough on Sunday morning to avoid the inactive list.

With Dietrich-Smith on hand, the team’s starting offensive line was expected to be intact for the game against the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field.

Backup tackle/guard Marshall Newhouse was listed as inactive after having flu-like symptoms. That left guard Lane Taylor and tackle Derek Sherrod as the Packers’ backup offensive linemen.

Dietrich-Smith had been listed as questionable after sustaining a knee injury on Thanksgiving Day against Detroit and an ankle injury in practice this week.

On the defensive line, inactive for Green Bay were C.J. Wilson with an ankle injury and Jerel Worthy, who spent most of the season on the physically unable to perform list.

Other inactives for the Packers were newly acquired running back Kahlil Bell, receiver Chris Harper, linebacker Nate Palmer and quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

For the Falcons, tight end Tony Gonzalez, who was limited this week in practice with a toe injury, was active.

On the Falcons’ inactive list were running back Josh Vaughan, safety Kemal Ishmael, linebacker Omar Gaither, guard Harland Gunn, tackle Terren Jones, tackle Sean Locklear and defensive tackle Travian Robertson.
