Bowling column: Feels good to finally join 300 club

Most Wednesday nights at Apple Valley Lanes, my teammates give me grief for writing this column about something that involves me. This week, I have a good excuse.

Last Wednesday night, I became the first Door County bowler to record a 300 during the 2013-14 season. It was the final game of a 762 series that also included a 235 and a 227.

My previous high had been a 288 last season, also in the Washout. That game was the only time I had ever thrown the first 10 strikes in a row. I don't remember what I left in the 11th frame. It must have been a 10-pin, since I missed it. ...
