Critic of island was just plain mean

The first time I really noticed Taylor Swift was when she sang "Mean" at the 2012 Grammys. Before that all I knew was this young woman had become a huge country music star and had occasionally been savaged by nasty critics.

Well, she showed up with a tasty band and strumming a banjo, wearing a plain dress and singing her heart out, a remarkably catchy song: "Someday I'll be living in a big old city/And all you're ever gonna be is mean/Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me/And all you're ever gonna be is mean - Why you gotta be so mean?"

That night she changed the words a bit: "Someday I'll be singing ...
