Q: I'm a 55-year old woman and recently started having unexplained back pain. Do you have any information on back pain and possibly some suggestions for me?

A: At least 70 percent of women suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. Many women first experience back pain during pregnancy, as the uterus expands and causes stress in the sacroiliac joint that joins the pelvis to the spine.
