The last time Jacob Faber cut down his own Christmas tree, he was just a kid.

But on the day after he proposed marriage to girlfriend Amber Platner, he took Amber and her 7-year-old son Tayten, his toddler son Ryker and a handful of other extended family members out to Greenview Tree Farm near Random Lake to choose and chop down their own tree.

"This is our first year at our new house," said Faber, 31, on Saturday. "The first year cutting (a tree) down." ...
