Nine months ago, the Green Bay Packers shelled out a $3.5 million roster bonus to Jermichael Finley to postpone a decision on the future of their tight end position for another year.

At least, that was the plan.

In October, the topic was brought back to the forefront after the 26-year-old Finley suffered a career-threatening neck injury during a 31-13 win over Cleveland. It required spinal fusion surgery of the C-3 and C-4 vertebrae, leaving his football future difficult to forecast. ...
