Fire-damaged silo demolished

Fire in a Luxemburg area silo smouldered for days, and area fire departments monitored the situation for flare-ups before the structure was demolished nearly a week later.

At about 10:30 a.m. Dec. 2, the Luxemburg Fire Department was called to the silo fire at E0838 County N in the town of Luxemburg.

The concrete silo was about 80 feet tall, two-thirds full of 15-year-old silage. Cause of the fire had not been determined. The fire was burning in a cavity about 30 feet from the bottom. ...
