Points of Pride: St. Paul volunteers work to prepare, deliver holiday baskets (with video)

Hazel Calkins Hall at St. Paul's United Methodist Church was filled Thursday morning with food, gifts and volunteers ready to fan out across Portage County to deliver them.

The Holiday Basket Project provides low-income families throughout Portage County with a holiday meal and gifts for Christmas. Bonnie Lund, who coordinates the church's participation in the project, said the church donated 80 baskets. The project was expected to serve about 1,300 families this year.

Lund said volunteers started working at 7 a.m. Thursday, buying more than $6,500 in groceries at Trig's. Volunteers ...
