The Green Bay Packers placed both tight end Brandon Bostick and defensive lineman Johnny Jolly on injured reserve Saturday, but didnít make any corresponding roster moves.

Bostick underwent season-ending foot surgery on Friday while Jolly is awaiting a decision on the significant neck injury in last Sundayís 37-36 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Packers didnít have a replacement at either position on their eight-man practice squad and will take only 51 players into Sundayís game against Pittsburgh. That means they'll only need to deactivate six players with quarterback Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) already ruled out.

The Packers could have used one of the openings to activate third-year receiver Randall Cobb, but decided to leave him on temporary injured reserve for the timing being.

He returned to practice in a limited capacity this past week from the fractured tibia he suffered in a 19-17 win over Baltimore on Oct. 13, but was only cleared to run two weeks ago.

Bostick and Jolly become the 14th and 15th players to go on injured reserve this season and both have split-salary clauses in their contacts.

For the final week of the regular season, Bostickís weekly compensation will go from $23,823.53 per week to $16,941.18 while Jolly will be reduced from $42,058.82 to $22,529.41.
