Although always surrounded by a large and loving family, Joyce (Neuzil) Kirchman knew that the family was even larger. Upon her request, in January 2013, her nephew visited Ancestry.com and searched for the name Neuzil.

"I was curious, I wanted to know if there were any relatives I could contact," Kirchman said.

Joyce's curiosity was initially piqued wondering what had become of her long-lost uncle Herman. Herman and her father, John Jr., both went into the military during the first world war. John returned, but Herman settled in Lynn, Mass., and never returned home. ...
