EDITOR: Each holiday season, I continue to be amazed by the overwhelming sense of generosity displayed by those living in our area. In a world that tends to focus on negativity, it warms my heart to know that central Wisconsin residents continue to live by their personal convictions of quietly helping those in need.

Last week, I experienced such an act by the Mosinee Lions Club and Kay Jewelers, which together generously donated new stuffed animals to be given out to children seeking care in the emergency and pediatricts departments at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. While this simple act may seem trivial to many, I see firsthand how it makes a huge impact on the little ones who are sick and needing medical care. These children often come in scared and sad, but these feelings quickly melt away as we present them with a fuzzy plush toy.

To everyone who assisted these groups, I wish to extend my sincere gratitude. Your act of kindness has greatly impacted numerous young people seeking care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and has reinforced our staff's belief that central Wisconsin truly lives by the golden rule. Thank you, Mosinee Lions Club and Kay Jewelers, for your act of compassion to the youngest of our community.

Todd A. Sann,

Emergency department director, Aspirus Wausau Hospital,
