After multiple blasts of prolonged cold weather, perhaps the one good thing to come of it was that solid ice has been forming on lakes since late November, letting ice fisherman and snowmobilers get an early jump on the winter ice season.

Yes, that's right; those villages you see out on the hard waters of Lake Winnebago are people enjoying their favorite hobbies on the ice instead of a boat. After last year's late start and even later ending to the cold weather, you'll get no complaints from the folks who are checking their tip-ups every 15 minutes.
