Details emerge in fatal Rhinelander bar fight

The death of a 48-year-old Rhinelander man was the result of a bizarre altercation between three men, police said Thursday.

James R. Tanner was pronounced dead early Wednesday at Sackett's Bar, 66 N. Brown St., Rhinelander, according to a news release issued Thursday by Rhinelander Police Chief Michael Steffes.

Witnesses told police that Tanner punched 62-year-old John Klucarich in the face during an argument at the bar, causing Klucarich to fall to the floor. Gregory Dryden, 59, a disc jockey for the bar, stepped in and grabbed Tanner, "directing" ...
