It was a fitting epitaph to a 2013 season defined by injuries for the Green Bay Packers.

Before Phil Dawson kicked them out of the playoffs with a 33-yard field goal to give San Francisco the 23-20 victory, the Packers had three starters - cornerback Sam Shields (knee), outside linebacker Mike Neal (knee) and left tackle David Bakhtiari (concussion) - leave and not return.

At one point, the Packers were lining up rookie defensive end Datone Jones at outside linebacker when the only active reserve, Andy Mulumba, left briefly with a knee injury. ...
