The Green Bay Packers finished 2013 with their third-worst record (8-7-1) in Mike McCarthy's eight seasons as coach and saw their season end with a first-round playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

They also played essentially eight games without their starting quarterback (Aaron Rodgers) and went into the playoffs without their best defensive player (Clay Matthews, broken thumb).

McCarthy now is a few days into his postmortem of 2013 and early preparations for 2014, and he sees a Packers ship in no need of a significant course change. At his season-ending news conference Wednesday, ...
