The Green Bay Packers have signed fullback Ina Liaina as a street free agent, according to the player’s agent.
Agent Angelo Wright tweeted today that Liaina signed a two-year deal with the Packers.
The move suggests the Packers signed Liaina over Jonathan Amosa, whom they cut last year at the end of training camp. They worked out Amosa today, according to a report by NationalFootballPost.com.
Liaina played in college at San Jose State and signed with the Miami Dolphins last May as an undrafted rookie. The Dolphins cut him in June, and he was out of football for the rest of the year.
As a senior at San Jose State, Liaina rushed for 98 yards on 33 carries and caught 10 passes for 110 yards. At his pro day workout, he measured at 5-11 ¾ and 240 pounds, and ran the 40 in 4.83 seconds and had a vertical jump of 29 ½ inches.
