Nontraditional quilting recreates scenes from nature

With a quilt top as her canvas, and the thread as her paint, Nancy Haferman shows her non-traditional style of quilting.

In February of 2010, an invite by her mother to attend a quilting class would be exceptional for a daughter, but what really was the impetus to attend was the title of the class: "Landscape Quilting." Judith Penz, the instructor, started participants with the basic skills of quilting and then let them loose to explore their imagination. Haferman was introduced to a new world of art that inspired her to create her pictures.
