Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers formally accepted the Bart Starr Award for Character and Leadership at the annual Super Bowl breakfast in New York on Friday morning.
The award, which was announced Jan. 15, recognizes a player for showing outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.
Rodgers is the first Packers player to win the award, which is presented by Athletes In Action, the sports ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.
Starr said in a statement: “Aaron is a great representative of the word ‘gentleman’ and I am proud to have his name associated with this special recognition and award.”
Rodgers later tweeted a photo of himself and Starr with the award, saying: “Proud to call him a role model, and dear friend.”
