Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley says his doctor has told him he’s “99.9 percent” certain he will clear Finley for contact in the next three weeks, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
Finley had surgery last November after sustaining a bruised neck Oct. 20 against Cleveland. He has been adamant about wanting to continue his NFL career and will be an unrestricted free agent in March.
Though Finley’s doctor is ready to clear him, that doesn’t mean the medical staff of any team, including the Packers, will pass him on a physical.
Finley reportedly injured his neck between the C-3 and C-4 vertebrae. Some doctors and teams are reluctant to clear players with injuires that high on their necks because there are so few vertebrae above them to handle the increased stress of contact after neck fusion surgery.
Finley finished this season with 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns.
