The Ephraim Business Council has announced the hiring of Jason Szmanda to serve as the tourism administrator for the organization.

Szmanda, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Psychology, Human Development and Theatre programs, has been traveling to Door County since 2006 and was a member of the 2011 Peninsula Players intern company. Since relocating to Door County from Chicago in May, he has worked with Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese and Trio Restaurant in Egg Harbor. He was previously employed as a program assistant for Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

"Jason projects enthusiasm and possesses superior customer service skills-both attributes that we feel will benefit the organization and community. We are thrilled to have him at the helm as we embark on a new life stage for the Ephraim Business Council," said Traci Busch, Ephraim Business Council president.

In his new position, Szmanda will be responsible for marketing the village of Ephraim as a premiere Door County destination, working specifically to develop and implement the annual marketing plan. He will also work to create and foster positive relationships with each business member, the staff and Ephraim Village Board, and community nonprofits.

"I am very excited to be joining the Ephraim community as tourism administrator for the Ephraim Business Council," Szmanda said. "I have a passion for people and I am excited to continue to grow personally and professionally through this opportunity."

In his spare time, Szmanda enjoys acting, reading, running, biking, hiking, and kayaking, and he is currently training for his first triathlon. He can be reached at TA@ephraim-doorcounty.com or by calling (920) 421-2979.
