Description of Products/Services: Ministry Home Care - Hospice Services provides a special kind of care for individuals living with terminal illness. Our hospice team uses their expertise to manage symptoms and control pain, allowing the remaining months of life to be lived fully with dignity and peace. Dedicated to quality of life, our professional staff and specially-trained volunteers assist the entire family in meeting the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs that surround this challenging time. Hospice is a service, not a place, and it is for anyone of any age, not just the elderly. Hospice serves patients with all diagnoses, and patients are encouraged to get out of the home and experience life. We provide the care, medications, equipment and supplies needed to manage terminal illness. Our team schedules staff visits and orders medications, equipment and supplies. We provide professional health care services with a warm and compassionate touch.

What makes your business unique? Ministry Home Care Inc. is a non-profit organization, Medicare certified and licensed by State of Wisconsin, striving for excellence and putting patients FIRST in everything we do. Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance plans provide funding for hospice services. We understand that some people are uninsured or under-insured.

Ministry provides hospice care to everyone who is medically eligible, regardless of their ability to pay.

What new things are happening in your business? Ministry is developing their Palliative Care program to be incorporated in all acute-care hospitals. This initiative is starting at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital this fall, working with patients while they are in hospital, then upon discharge, offering them follow up opportunities through the Ministry Home Care PATH (palliative approach to treatment) program.

Are you collaborating with any other regional businesses? "Eat out in November and Support Hospice." November is Home Care Awareness Month, a special time when the Ministry Home Care - Hospice outreach team works to increase awareness about hospice services! We have teamed up with area Wausau restaurants for our "Hospice ... It's Everybody's Business" fundraiser, an event in which the community is encouraged to eat at participating restaurants on designated days, and a portion of proceeds are then donated to hospice, which directly assists hospice patients and their families on hospice programs.

Restaurants that participated in November were Burrachos Fresh Mexican Grill, Tailgatez Grill and Sports Bar, Noodles and Company, Nueske's at Gulliver's Landing, The Hills Restaurant, Tri-City Family Restaurant and Joan's Sixth Street Filling Station. This was a wonderful way to support these Wausau restaurants and hospice!
