American Transmission Co. filed an application with the Public Service Commission to rebuild a 69,000-kilovolt transmission line between Dyckesville and Sturgeon Bay.

If approved, construction would begin in September and be completed by summer 2016. The cost is estimated at $23 million.

The line was built in the 1930s and needs improvement to assure electric reliability, said David Hovde of ATC. The project will include replacing H-frame structures with single poles along the length of the route.

The application is available at psc.wi.gov under docket number 137-CE-172.
