The school shopping season has begun.

This isn't the kind of shopping parents do to get their children geared up for a new school year. This is the kind of shopping that parents do if they think their children could do better in a different kind of school. And school districts across the state have responded to the needs of those parents by opening charter schools, often with a special focus that cater to individual students' needs, such as science and engineering, project-based learning or online virtual school programs.
