Pittsville awarded forestry grant

The Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry Grant Program has awarded $602,486 to 46 Wisconsin communities, nonprofit organizations and counties for community urban forestry projects.

Pittsville will received $2,500 for city tree maintenance.

Communities were encouraged to apply for grants to bolster their preparedness for emerald ash borer, or EAB. Wisconsin has about 5.2 million ash trees in cities, villages and urban towns. All are at heightened risk since EAB was confirmed in Wisconsin. A total of 21 counties now are quarantined. ...
