In 2012, 12.6 million consumers filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission regarding identity theft, and that number is likely to be even higher when data for 2013 become available. While prevention is the best solution, you need to know what to do if you become a victim of identity theft.

Here are five steps to take immediately if you think your identity has been stolen:
