Hanson sentenced to life in prison for 1998 Oconto Co. murder

A man convicted of killing a 19-year-old in 1998 will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Oconto County Judge Michael T. Judge cited the heinous nature of the crime and a lengthy history of criminal behavior by Peter Hanson in handing down the sentence on Thursday.

"I want to ensure the defendant is confined so that the public is protected from him, so there will be no other sort of mayhem, harm, injury, emotional trauma or loss, ever caused by him on this earth again," Judge said. ...
