The city's long-shuttered and embattled power plant could gain some steam again.

The Common Council voted unanimously Thursday to enter into negotiations with Aeries Energy LLC and Simply Incredible Foods LLC to sell the former steam plant on River Street so it can be repurposed as a specialty food processing facility.

Aeries Energy proposes to partner with Simply Incredible Foods, a cranberry processor from Port Edwards, to reuse the structure to produce the company's Cransations product line. ...
