Wrestling: Five county athletes ready for state

Four from L-C, one from Kewaunee move on to WIAA wrestling tournament

Kewaunee County will watch five local wrestlers compete this weekend in Madison for the WIAA Individual Wrestling Tournament. Undefeated Luxemburg-Casco 220-pound senior Luke Destiche (41-0) and Kewaunee 195-pound senior David Steinhorst (39-2) walked off their sectional mats Feb. 22 with tournament champion titles.

Destiche pinned all three of his opponents in Seymour during the Division 2 sectional. In his quarterfinal match, he defeated Jack Lawlis (27-13) of Almond Bancroft/Pacelli in one minute and 15 seconds. His semifinal round lasted 43 seconds and before opponent Alex ...
