Letter: Happy that rescued duck is doing fine

8:18 PM, Feb. 27, 2014  |  Comments

I just wanted to say how happy I am to hear the duck from the front-page article from today (Feb. 26) is doing fine! He's such an adorable little guy.

I was actually driving on the 10th Street bridge when I noticed his little duck foot stuck in the metal grate of the bridge. He wasn't able to get his foot unstuck, so I parked the car and got his foot out myself. Realistically, the duck would have been hit by a car if his foot wasn't unstuck. Sure there was some traffic, but that's not what mattered. After I got the duck's foot unstuck, he flapped around a little bit and headed towards Quay Street (toward Manitowoc Coffee) and that's the last I saw of him. I couldn't find him after that, but regardless, I'm so glad he's OK. Thanks for the article! It was great to read.
