A home-based business is a small business that operates from the business owner's home office, and usually defined by having a very small number of employees, usually all immediate family of the business owner, in which case it is also a family business. It is reported that a new home-based business is started every 12 seconds to where there are 38 million such businesses in the USA. Further, 70 percent of the home-based businesses succeed within three years versus 30 percent of regular businesses, and that 44 percent of home-based businesses are started for less than $5,000.
