Trial begins in Packers-Vikings 'purple sombrero' postgame fight

The attorney of a purple sombrero-wearing Minnesota Vikings fan accused of punching a Green Bay Packers fan outside an Ashwaubenon sports bar after a 2012 game says it's a case of self-defense, while the prosecution contends he blindsided someone trying to defuse a tense situation.

Mark Swanson, 41, of Lakeland, Minn., is charged with aggravated battery for his involvement in a fight at Sideline Sports Bar, just west of Lambeau Field after the Packers beat the Vikings 23-14 on Dec. 2, 2012. His three-day jury trial started Wednesday.
