Wisconsin might have an interesting late-round or free-agent draft prospect in defensive lineman Ethan Hemer.
According to a report on waltercamp.com, Hemer last year lost 30 pounds to fit into new coach Gary Andersen’s defense but at the lighter weight didn’t perform as well as he did as a junior. Hemer has gained back much of the weight – at UW’s pro day today he measured 6-5 and 291 -- and likely will be a better NFL prospect in the 300-pound range.
Hemer wasn't invited to the NFL scouting combine, so today’s workout was his first for NFL scouts. Hemer didn’t stand out in any of the physical testing but did well enough for a player his size.
According to Tony Pauline of waltercamp.com, Hemer was solid in the bench press (32 reps), slow in the 40 (5.50 seconds), and decent in the vertical jump (29 ˝ inches), short shuttle (4.66 seconds) and three-cone drill in 7.46 seconds.
Hemer played at Medford High School.
