Everest school board candidate wants you to vote for opponent

One of four candidates vying for two open D.C. Everest Area School Board seats is asking his supporters to vote for one of his rivals.

Philip Salamone, 63, of Schofield has practically withdrawn from the race. In a mass email sent last weekend, he asked those who were planning to vote for him instead to cast their ballots for Yee Leng Xiong, 19, of Weston.

"I decided (without a bit of urging from him) that I so much support Yee that I did not want my candidacy to siphon off possible votes that he might otherwise garner," Salamone said in the email. "He is the future, I am the past. More importantly, he is ...
