Defensive lineman B.J. Raji might wait until the free-agent signing period starts to decide whether to sign a one-year contract with the Packers.

According to a report today by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Raji will take the “next few days” to determine his value on the market after the early negotiating period for free agency opened at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Raji probably has gained a decent sense of his value now that free agents can talk contract parameters with other teams. But there’s always the chance a better offer comes once teams are allowed to set up visits and start signing other teams' free agents beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

“Nothing imminent,” Rapaport said about Raji in a tweet this afternoon. “Could return on 1-year deal depending on interest elsewhere.”

The Packers were unable to work out a long-term contract with Raji in the weeks leading up to free agency. Late last week they offered him a one-year deal, which would limit the amount of money he’ll make this year but allow him the chance to improve his performance over last season and then hit free agency again in 2015 for potentially better long-term offers.
