School music directors will be allowed to choose the music students perform in public concerts and classrooms, but that music will be reviewed by their peers if the Wausau School Board accepts the advice of a diverse advisory group.

Musical choices will be required to be based on educational and musical value "rather than its religious context," according to the recommendation of the Music Policy Advisory Committee. That 20-person group was formed in January to help the Wausau School Board to create an official policy that will regulate the manner in which religious music can be performed.
