No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. Hopefully we can March out of these snow banks and soon see some signs of the coming spring.

To help get you in the mood for spring, consider joining Lowell Center's Garden Club. At 10 a.m. March 20, we will discuss companion planting and making plans for planting your own garden. Come "grow" with us.

Our Garden Club also will host an intergenerational day during the week of April 14. You can bring your grandchildren or young friend to participate in some planting, crafting and learning opportunities for the younger generation of gardeners. Mark your calendars and watch for specific date and times.

Do you prefer to stay indoors and be active? Consider joining the Wii Bowlers. The next session will start April 7 and will run for 10 weeks. Game times start at 1 p.m. and run until 3:15 p.m. It's a great afternoon of fun, laughter and socializing. Give Lowell Center a call at 715-421-1051 if you are interested in joining the spring league.

Christmas on July 24 is on the calendar as we travel north to visit the Christmas Chalet and then head over to Tommy O's Playhouse in Hazelhurst to see the H.M.S. Pinafore production of nautical nuttiness, ribald romance, silly satire and merry melodies from the incomparable Gilbert and Sullivan. Cost is $68 per person and includes lunch. Stop by Lowell Center to reserve your seat.

Don't forget, Lowell Center is offering a craft project the second Thursday of each month. In March we will be creating spring colored material tied wreaths. Contact Lowell Center to reserve a space to join us at 1:30 p.m. March 13.

Last chance! Make your appointment to have the AARP Tax Aide program complete your taxes if you're 60 and older. Call 715-422-2776 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday to request a personal tax appointment.

Anyone 50 and older may participate in Lowell Center programs, activities and events, membership is not required. The Lowell Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m until 11:4 5a.m. and 12:45 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. For more information on Lowell Center, please call 715-421-1051.
