Civil Construction

Eric Johnson, construction services division manager and team member of the REI Civil Construction team of Wausau, was selected to participate in the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association, and American Council of Engineering Companies Partnering Conference in Wisconsin Dells. The conference was sponsored by WisDOT.

WisDOT, WTBA and ACEC partnered to create ways to improve their working relationships and better understand all party's common goals.

Civil Engineering

REI Engineering Inc. was presented with the Special Recognition Award in the Mega Projects category during the 2013 Highway Construction Awards held in January at the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association Contractor Engineering Conference in Madison. REI's team member Tom Marschke was recognized for project leadership of the Highway 41/Highway 29 interchange. Additionally, Hoffman Construction Co., Black River Falls, was honored with the Special Recognition Award for grading work associated with the USH 41/STH 29 Interchange.

REI also was nominated for the North Central Region in the Asphalt Paving category for its project leadership associated with US 51 Minocqua.

REI Engineering provides solutions to meet the civil/survey and environmental/safety needs of their business partners.


? Erin Fritz joined The Samuels Group Accounting Department and is responsible for the processing of all non-payroll disbursements and includes vendor relations, data entry of vendor invoices, travel reimbursements, and other miscellaneous payments and reimbursements.

The Samuels Group is a commercial construction contractor providing construction management, negotiated and design/build services to health care, educational, commercial and government agencies.

? Accent Window Fashions of Wausau has been awarded "Best Of Houzz" by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design.

? Amber Fochs was promoted to Builder Recruitment state manager Jan. 1. Fochs is responsible for the lead activity, new builder recruitment, on-boarding and opening of new design centers for a designated region. She also is overseeing the Builder Recruitment Call Center.


Becher-Hoppe Associates Inc., a Wausau-based engineering and architecture firm, and the City of Wausau were recognized by the American Council of Engineers Companies of Wisconsin with a State Finalist Engineering Excellence Award in the completion of the Wausau Downtown Airport Aircraft Refueler and Snow Removal Equipment Storage Building.

Becher-Hoppe provided architectural and engineering design services for the building, which provides space for storage and maintenance of the equipment. The building is a first-of-its-kind in Wisconsin, unique because it combines storage for SRE and refueler equipment that typically are stored in separate buildings because of special building systems and code requirements.

Becher-Hoppe worked with John Chmiel, airport manager, to finalize project plans, construction and operation of the new building.

Becher-Hoppe is a leading Wisconsin engineering and architecture firm serving municipal, county and state governments; developers; agricultural clients; private institutions and businesses throughout Wisconsin.

Point B, a management consulting and venture investment firm, has named Michael Valitchka as senior director of Chicago's health care practice. Valitchka was a key figure in the 100 percent growth of the firm's health care practice in 2013.

With a focus on patient access and revenue cycles, operational and process improvements in clinical and operational settings, and health exchange operations for health plans and exchange platforms, Valitchka will serve as the principal health care client-supporting executive and provide strategic input into the advancement of the Chicago health care practice.

Valitchka is the son of Chris and Phil Valitchka, Wausau.

Point B's health care practice supports organizations working on critical challenges in today's complex marketplace - from health care reform to performance management.


? Curtis Langemeier, Wisconsin Rapids, a Modern Woodmen of America Managing Partner, attended the Modern Woodmen Leadership Career Institute in Rock Island, Ill.

The fraternal financial services organization offers financial products and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.

? Fitch Ratings has affirmed Thrivent Financial for Lutherans AA (very strong) rating, the third-highest of Fitch's 19 categories.

? Diane Witzel joined United FCS as a crop insurance specialist in the Marshfield office. Witzel will serve the organization's insurance portfolio (MPCI, Hail and Life) in Wood, Clark and Marathon counties.

? Mark Groholski was promoted to the role of VP Agribusiness in the United FCS Stevens Point office. Groholski will transition into serving the business needs of Agribusiness clients in north central Wisconsin by providing financial services to meet the ever-changing needs and challenges of the industry.

United FCS is a member of the Farm Credit System, a nationwide network of banks and retail lending associations chartered to support the borrowing needs of U.S. agriculture and the nation's rural economy.


Terry Lewis-Birkett joins Linetec as an accountant responsible for accounts payable, invoicing, month end and special projects.

Benjamin Pierce joins Linetec as a process engineer.

Located in Wausau, Linetec is an environmentally focused architectural finishing company offering high-performance liquid paint coatings, powder coat and anodize for commercial and residential markets.


Father Frank Corradi and Barbara Ceranski have been named as interim co-directors to lead St. Anthony Spirituality Center in Marathon.

SASC recently changed ownership after the previous owners passed on the reins to St. Anthony's of Marathon Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed by an interested group of volunteers who wanted to see SASC carry on as a retreat center in central Wisconsin.
