About 150 Manitowoc Ice production workers will lose their jobs by the end of 2015, Manitowoc Company officials have announced. Its popular Indigo line of ice machines will be made at a new plant in Monterrey, Mexico.

"We just found out about this yesterday ... they kept it a pretty good secret," Ben Elizondo, business agent for the International Association of Machinists, said on Tuesday.

The production workers due to be permanently laid off, beginning in September, are among some 235 Local 516 members who work at the 26th Street Manitowoc Ice plant. ...
