Consultant: Most residents on jail block want to stay in Oconto

Oconto County should own all of the property on the block north of the courthouse by the end of the year, according to the consultant hired by the county to help it acquire the land for a new jail and sheriff's offices.

SRF Consulting Group of Madison, which began work last week to appraise the property, gave presentations on the project at a meeting March 5, one for property owners and residents of the block, the other for the public.

The project manager, SRF senior associate Marla Britton, said at the public meeting that it appears few of the affected residents will be leaving Oconto. ...
