Prep girls basketball: Everest falls short in D1 sectional semi

The D.C. Everest girls basketball team held a lead into the fourth quarter, but came up just short in a 50-46 loss to top-seeded Superior in a WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal matchup Thursday.

Superior's Hailey Kontny had 22 points, and had a three-point play that gave her team a 48-46 lead with under a minute left in regulation.

Third-seeded Everest, playing in its first sectional game since 2009, finished with a 22-3 record. ...
